WHAT:  Day long live fire event to increase practitioner confidence/exposure to prescribed fire operations

WHEN:  The first available burn window (Monday through Saturday) February 21-March 11, 2017…the most advanced notice you can expect will be 2 days before the event (weather sensitive)

WHERE:  Sehoy, Enon & Easter Plantations, Bullock Co AL (<1 hour from Montgomery, Opelika, Phenix City, Eufaula) near Hurtsboro AL. Motels available at Opelika, Eufaula, Phenix City, Union Springs if you need to overnight, make your own arrangements.

WHO:  Limited number of participants will be selected and notified by email

PURPOSE OF EVENT:  Ten (10) prescribed burns will occur simultaneously from 7:30 am till 3:30 pm (CST) to give participants a day long “start to finish” experience on live prescribed burns.  10 participants will be assigned as a crew managed by experienced & Alabama certified prescribed burn managers.  Lunch in the field will be provided.  Participants will have access all day to observe, ask questions & EXPERIENCE ignition and holding a burn between 150-300 acres with a variety of fuel types, forest types and stand conditions.
