Healthy forests are vital to Alabama’s economy by providing wood for the forest product facilities that employ thousands across the state.
These same forests are equally vital to Alabama’s environment and the well-being of all its citizens by:
protecting the quality of water that we drink;
enhancing the habitat that supports healthy wildlife populations; and
providing excellent recreation opportunities.
The Alabama Forestry Foundation is committed to educating the public, especially young people, about the important role that managed forests play in Alabama’s economy, environment, and way of life.
AFF carries out this mission by supporting the following activities and programs:
This day long event encourages architect students to incorporate wood into their designs; promotes wood as a sustainable resource; and addresses forest certification in sustainable design.

The FFA Forestry Competition is designed to stimulate young people's interest in forestry-related careers.
PLT uses the forest to increase students' understanding of our environment; stimulate critical and creative thinking; develop the ability to make informed decisions on environmental issues and take responsible action on behalf of the environment.
The primary goal these workshops is to raise awareness among teachers about Alabama's abundant forests and other natural resources in the state and how the forestry community manages them in a sustainable way.
