The Alabama Loggers Council (ALC) gives a unified voice to Alabama's 1,500 loggers and their vendors. Founded in 1992, the ALC's mission is to represent the interest of its members and to enhance the public image of logging and the forest industry as a whole in the state of Alabama. In addition to the political arena, ALC's activities include the development of safety programs and providing logger education and training.
The Alabama Loggers Council is affiliated with three other groups whose goals include the protection of the forest industry:
Alabama Forestry Association servesas the voice of forestry in Alabama, building on a foundation that began in 1949, and works with various governmental bodies to protect the rights and needs of the forest industry.
Southern Logging Coalition ties together more than 10,000 loggers within eight other Southern states.
American Loggers Council promotes the cause of the logging profession on a national basis, working directly on lawmakers and agencies in Washington, D.C.
