Senator Jeff Sessions Challenges Obama Administration on Possible Prisoner Release
Obama Administration has turned Over Dangerous Prisoner, who has killed Americans, to Iraqi Authorities who might Release him
U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions recently took the Obama Administration to task over their handling of the transfer of an "enemy combatant" who was responsible for the death of American service members. Sessions and other U.S. Lawmakers asked Obama to send the prisoner to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where other Muslim fighters have been held since the administration of George W. Bush decided that the extremely dangerous captives would not be held on American soil.
But Obama vowed to close Guantanamo and try terrorist suspects in the American court system. Sessions said that after he and other U.S. Lawmakers asked that the Iraqi prisoner be sent to the Cuban facility, the Administration instead handed him over to Iraqi officials, who may now release the killer. Sessions said that is a very dangerous prospect and that the individual in question would almost certainly return to the battlefield and attempt to kill more American and Coalition forces if he is released.
