AFA Hosts Brewton Area Regional Reception at Country Club of Brewton
The Alabama Forestry Association hosted its Brewton Area Regional Reception on Thursday, August 2 at the beautiful Country Club of Brewton. It was a great night, with a fabulous showing from the local forestry community and local legislators, including State Representatives Alan Baker and Mike Jones. Also attending was Brewton Mayor, Ted Jennings.
The Southwest Region of the Alabama Forestry Association has seen reception attendees travel far and wide to be with us. AFA member Tom McMillan III traveled from Charlotte, North Carolina to attend the Brewton Reception while Kay Woods and her son, Montgomery, flew in from San Francisco, California to attend the Mobile Reception. The interest in forestry related issues is on rise as evidenced by the increasing attendance at these AFA sponsored events.
Landowners want to ensure their land can be harvested, while mills want to comply with SFI standards. Forestry-related industry accounts for 10% of the total economy of Alabama. Keeping forestry jobs is a primary focus of the Alabama Forestry Association.
