AFA Member Action Alert!

Working with our partners at the FRA, we need you to call Alabama U.S. Congressman Robert Aderholt as soon as possible and ask him to vote tomorrow (June 14) for the Harris-Cuellar Amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations bill that will be offered in committee.

This amendment has an excellent chance of passing the Committee if the members hear that the H-2B Returning Worker Exemption is important to businesses in their districts. This proposal will help ensure that we have enough workers permitted to work under the H-2B Guest worker program for our industry.

Congressman Aderholt represents the 4th Congressional District in Alabama. Right now he is "leaning favorably", according to the vote counters at FRA. However, it is critical that Congressman Aderholt hear from his Alabama constituents about this critical matter.

You can reach the Congressman at his office at: 202-225-4876.

If you or your company own land, have operations or do business in Congressional District 4, it is vital that you call Congressman Aderholt.

In calling, identify yourself and your employer or business and the connection with the legislator's district and ask to speak to the Legislative Director about Tuesday's Appropriations Committee vote on the Homeland Security Appropriations bill. If the Legislative Director isn't available, leave a voice mail message in his or her mailbox. Explain that you are calling about Tuesday's Appropriation's Committee vote on the Homeland Security Appropriations bill.

Ask that the member of Congress support the Harris-Cuellar Amendment to extend the H-2B Guestworker "returning Worker Exemption" from the annual cap for another year. Emphasize that a workable H-2B program is vital to reforestation, to a successful forest industry, and to the communities that depend on forestry.
