Bill Harris joined the Alabama Forestry Association in 2014 as the Executive Director of the Alabama Loggers Council (ALC) responsible for managing the ALC as well as leading the association’s governmental relations activities with counties and municipalities. He also manages association relationships with several state agencies including the Alabama Department of Transportation and the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
Bill has over 30 years of military service in both the Army National Guard and Army Reserves with assignments including Motor Transportation Officer, Logistics Staff Officer, and Battalion Commander of the 362nd Quartermaster Battalion. His active duty deployments include Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Germany, Italy, Korea and Panama.
In civilian life, Bill has served on Congressman Robert Aderholt’s staff as District Director and as Executive Director of the Alabama Republican Party. He has also served as a political consultant to numerous candidates in Alabama, most recently working for AFA as a political consultant running several campaigns for AFA-endorsed candidates.
Bill earned an Associate of Science degree in Business from Alexander City Junior College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Troy University. He currently holds the rank of Lt. Colonel, Quartermaster, US Army Reserves.
