Karen Boyd joined the Alabama Forestry Association in 2014 as the Director of Forestry Programs responsible for all outreach and certification-related programs of the association including the Alabama Tree Farm Program. She also serves as AFA’s North Region Coordinator responsible for AFA member outreach activities in north Alabama.
Prior to joining AFA, Karen worked for more than 30 years in the forest products industry with International Paper and Champion International Corporation in land management, procurement, operations and most recently leading IP’s forest certification efforts for the Courtland Mill. She has extensive experience in forest certification systems including SFI, Tree Farm and FSC and currently serves as a Contract Forest Management Auditor. She has served on the Alabama Tree Farm Committee, Alabama SFI State Implementation Committee as Vice-Chairman, AFA Board of Directors and the Alabama Board of Registration for Foresters.
Karen earned a Master of Science degree in Forest Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management from Auburn University. She currently holds the designations of Registered Forester in Alabama.
