In Memoriam: Scott Langley of Camp Hill

(CAMP HILL) Scott Langley, 78, of Camp Hill died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at his residence.

The funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette with the Revs. Wayne Barrett and Yancey Sanders officiating. Burial followed at LaFayette City Cemetery.

Born Feb. 27, 1934, in Chambers County, Mr. Langley owned and operated Langley Pulpwood Company for 56 years. He served on the Chambers Academy Board of Directors for 43 years, 30 of those as chairman. Mr. Langley was a member of Chambers County Farmers Federation for more than 50 years. He was inducted into the AISA Hall of Fame. Mr. Langley was a member of the Sportsman's Club and Alabama Forestry Commission and served on the Chambers County Extension Advisory Board. He was a member of Chambers County Cattlemen's Association and helped start Burnt Village Park. Mr. Langley was a member of County Line Baptist Church in Camp Hill, where he was a deacon.

Mr. Langley is survived by his wife, Doris Sims Langley of Camp Hill; four children and their spouses, Cathy and Skip McCoy of Lanett, Thomas and Terri Langley of LaFayette and Curtis and Victoria Langley and Chris and Elizabeth Langley, all of Camp Hill; a sister, Jeanette Rollins of Woodland; two brothers, Mac Langley of Lanett and Ben Langley of Camp Hill; and 11 grandchildren.

The family asked that donations be made to Hospice Advantage of East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
