The Alabama Forestry Foundation supports Alabama timberland owners by participating in legal matters that support the foundational principles of the Alabama Forestry Association; (1) limited, fiscally responsible government, (2) protection of private property rights, (3) promotion of free and open markets, and (4) strict adherence to the Rule of Law.  Legal issues that have been addressed by the Foundation include:


1.       challenges to Alabama’s ad valorem tax system,

2.      infringement on private property owners by the Rails-to-Trails program,

3.      overreach of a county’s authority to post weight limits on roads to preclude timber harvesting,

4.      eminent domain matters

5.      licensing requirements

6.      environmental matters
